The Seagoville Public Library provides free services to all residents living within the City of Seagoville.

The library owns more than 30,000 print, audio-visual and digital materials including:

The Seagoville Public Library is member of the Northeast Texas Digital Consortium offering thousands of digital e-books, e-audio books and streaming video for users of all ages

Mission Statement

The mission of the Seagoville Public Library is to improve the quality of life for residents of the City of Seagoville that it serves.

In keeping with this mission, the goals of the Seagoville Public Library are:

To serve the community as a center of reliable information.

To offer a broad and diverse range of resources to educate, entertain     and enlighten.

To initiate activities which will encourage the most effective use of these selected materials.

To cooperate with educational, civic, and cultural groups and organizations whose aims are compatible with those of the library.

To provide opportunity and encouragement for men, women, children and young people to educate themselves continuously.

To facilitate universal, life-long education for the general reader.

To demonstrate professional leadership in designing, developing and managing library collections, systems and services. 



Director's Message

Welcome to the Seagoville Public Library Website.  We trust that your visit to our online library is a useful and enjoyable experience and that you will visit again and take advantage of our many resources.  We plan to add new features and resources as they become available.

The library staff is dedicated to serving you, and responding to your requests for library services.

We continue to offer programs for children and adults, even though our space is limited.

Circulation Services

Library materials have a two week circulation cycle.  Patrons may renew the materials once providing there are no reserve holds on the materials. 

Interlibrary Loan Services are available at a fee of $1.00 per loaned item.  The fee is collected upon the request being fulfilled.

Youth and Teen Services

Story Time - Preschool programming throughout the school year

Summer Reading Club - Each year the library adopts the Texas State Library theme for Summer Reading Club and presents programming to encourage a lifetime love of reading and learning.  The programs commence immediately after public school release for the Summer. 

Youth Volunteer Program - The library participates in local youth volunteer programs that benefit the growth and development of the youth involved and the library as well. Volunteers must complete and submit a volunteer application and be approved for the volunteer program.  Application are available at the library's circulation desk.  

Reference Assistance

The Seagoville Public Library provides reference services upon request. 

Outreach Activities

The Seagoville Public Library shares their collection with The Seagoville Senior Citizens Center, The Villas of Seagoville, and provides donated materials to the Seagoville Federal Correctional Institution.

Library Staff also participate in local "fairs" presented by school and civic groups.

TexShare

TexShare allows direct access to books and other library materials that aren't available at your local library. The Seagoville Public Library participates in TexShare in two ways:

1. TexShare Borrowers Card

The Seagoville Public Library will honor TexShare Card referrals from any library in the state of Texas.  The circulation policies that apply to all patrons apply to TexShare cardholders.  In addtion the following limitations apply:

Renewal Limit -  1 - If there are no holds or reserves on the material.

2. TexShare Card Referral

Eligible applicant must be an established patron in good standing.  Established patron must have maintained six months of library usage without unpaid fines or seriously over due materials.  In an effort to clarify "usage", monthly transactions are sufficient to establish eligibility.  The TexShare card is a privilege for those who have demonstrated that they can use library services in a responsible manner.

Your home library shall remain your primary provider of library services. The purpose of the TexShare card is to enhance service with materials not available at your home library.

Who Can Get a Card

Any resident of the City of Seagoville , upon proof of identification, is eligible for a library card.  Identification may be a Texas driver's license or State of Texas Identification card, Military Identification, or a Mexican Consular Identification card.  Recent cancelled mail showing name and address of applicant will be accepted for proof of residency if the current address is not on the license or identification card.  Parents must sign cards for persons under 16 years of age.  Children under school age who can write or print their own name may receive a library card.

The Seagoville Public Library will issue a computer use only card to applicants who only wish to use the public access computers. These applicants must meet the same requirements established for all applicants. Parents must sign permission for person under 18 years of age, for computer access. This card shall be presented each time the patron wishes to use the public access computers.

Persons living outside the City of Seagoville may be provided direct access to the Seagoville Public Library by presenting a Tex-Share card from their home library or by purchasing an annual membership card for $20.00.

How to Get Your Card

A borrower's card will be issued upon completion of application and verification of mailing address.  This card shall be presented each time materials are taken from the library.  A borrower may check out two items upon completion of application for a borrower's card. The library card will be mailed to the address of record. 

Borrowing Limit     

Once the borrower has received their card in the mail and can present it at the circulation desk, they may check out a total of eight items.

Placing Holds Or Reserves for Materials

Any circulating material may be placed on reserve.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items

Circulating materials may be renewed twice unless there is a reserve request for the material from another patron.
Materials may be renewed over the phone or by logging onto the library's web-site.  To renew on the library's web-site the borrower must have an established  log in and password to access their library account. 

Library Fines

A fine of $.10 cents per day will be charged for each day books are overdue.  Fines for DVD's will be charged at a rate of $1.00 per day.  This will include holidays and days the library is closed only if a material depository is provided during hours the library is closed.  The fine will not exceed $5.00 per overdue item.

 Lost or damaged materials will be replaced at replacement value plus a $5.00 processing fee.  Materials must be damaged beyond repair to be considered for replacement.
